Gain Practical Project Management Skills - April's Breakfast Event: PMO Implementation Lessons Learned

To be presented will be many of the lessons learned from a legacy Stage-Gate New Product Development PMO implementation which remain remarkably relevant in today's business landscape. In this session, we'll use the constructive criticism framework to take an honest look at what went well — change management, standardizing project delivery, and continuous improvement — and challenging areas - portfolio management, reporting consistency, and the human factor. The goal is a candid, practical conversation reminding us that the technologies may may improve, but the practical elements for PMO implementation apply now as they did then.

Presenter: Roy Simmons, PhD, MBA, PMP

Dr. Simmons is a scientist-executive and program leader with more than thirty years of experience in pharmaceutical development; chemical R&D and market management; and enterprise project management. A PhD-trained chemist with an MBA in Finance and an active Project Management Professional (PMP), he has led FDA-regulated development programs and implemented enterprise project management systems and PMOs across multiple organizations. He is the founder and managing member of Simmons Management Services, LLC, where he consults with life-science companies on program execution, business strategy, and cross-functional development governance.
