Retrospective from a Laboratory Leader: Large‑Scale Relocation & Digital Pathology Transformation

Introduction
Looking back on our laboratory’s relocation and digital transformation initiative, I’m struck by the scale of what we accomplished and the precision required to execute it. Moving a high‑volume diagnostic laboratory is never a simple task—but doing so while simultaneously transitioning from traditional glass slide review to a fully digital pathology workflow required a level of coordination, discipline, and cross‑functional alignment that pushed our team to new heights.

Partnering with a PMP‑certified project manager was one of the most critical success factors. Their structured approach, risk management discipline, and ability to orchestrate multiple workstreams allowed the laboratory team to stay focused on quality, compliance, and scientific integrity throughout the transition.
